Le clonage








  1. Va sur le site L'actualité des clones.
  2. Lis les histoires sur la page d'accueil et choisis les 2 histoires que tu aimes le plus.
  3. Fais un résumé en anglais de chaque histoire.
  4. Envoie tes résumés sur le blog. Attention, tu ne peux pas choisir la même histoire que les personnes qui ont fait l'exercice avant toi.

Premiere mondiale : une équipe coréenne réssuit le clonage d'un chien.

The story is about the cloned pet dog, who has been named "snuppy" after the institute in america where he was created. The article goes on to talk about how cloning has developed after the success of dolly the sheep, and gives a breif overview of the technical sides of the cloning process, and talks about possible complications the dog could suffer from.

Rétro 2004: le clonage humain.

this article talks about the possiblitlities of creating the first cloned human. the article goes on to mention the possible complications that could arise but says that if it were to be a success, it could be an advance for medicine of the future.

Pour 50 dollars...

This is about an American who paid $50 to clone his beloved cat who died in 2003. It talks about he feels about his cat and the ethics of 'personal' cloning (eg cloning of pets).

Trois mulets...

This is about three young horses who are members of a cloned family of horses.Apparantly they are in good health and are entirely normal.

Jacques Chirac souligne l'urgence d'un code universel de bioéthique.

This article reports that Jacques Chirac calls for the urgent establishment of a universal code of bioethics. He spoke to la Conférence générale de l'Unesco about the 'new risks and drifts' caused by the progress of science. He talks of the neccesity, a year after the first unconfirmed human cloning, for an ethic code tocontrol the use of science in cloning.

This article talks about how for 3500 dollars one can have a genetically modified cat which may not have the capacity to enduce alergic reactions. it's saliva, hair and other exrecrtions may be modified so as they wont make even the most sesative sneeze.

ONU : un traité contre le clonage humain reproductif abandonné.

This article discusses the fact that in November 2004, it was decided by the UN that the treaty for human cloning would be abandoned. Most countries were in favour of it but at the last moment, the UN moved away from it.

Des chercheurs de Dalhousie sont les premiers à cloner un insecte.

This 2nd article discusses the 1st insect clone - a fruit fly. This is particularly important as the fruit fly shares 2/3 of the same genes as us. If scientists are able to understand why defects would happen whilst cloning an insect, it is thought that it'll be easier for them to understand the cloning of humans better.
